Science Camp
THE GIFT OF UNDERSTANDING THE WORLD AROUND US...
through chemistry, physics and biology.
Have you ever wanted to invent a new flavor of chap stick or a new fizzy juice drink? You now have the chance to mix, measure, test and compare your research to discover the secret formulas used in products you buy at the store. What makes that ice cream perfect for scooping on a cone? How can we determine the best mix of soil in which to grow a cactus or a rose? Become a mad mixer and test the properties of different ingredients - change solids into liquids and back again... concludes with a Surprise field trip on the last day.
Science Camp for Girls
Students can pursue their interests by using laboratory materials to experiment over several sessions with an intro into physics, chemistry and biology. Girls will enjoy the chemistry of cosmetics (did you know chemists make this stuff?), the science of food and nutrition as well as meteorology (predicting the weather) and a few other chemistry experiments for fun. Students will turn their curiosity into an understanding of the world around them.
Science Camp for Boys
Boys will enjoy the science of sports and nutrition, as well as meteorology (predicting the weather) and the science of electronics, with a few chemistry experiments thrown in just for fun. Make some alien slime and discover the ingredients for soap. Explore the relationship between electricity and magnetism or travel back in time to see how plant and animal life has changed over the many millennium, adapting to the changes in their environment. Students will turn their curiosity into an understanding of the world around them.
Fees are $580.00 per week, including all materials for experiments - does not include lunch.
two weeks: July 25 through August 5, 2011
This program is for elementary school age children; grades 2 to 6 - exceptions may be made for exceptional younger children with an interest in science.
Hours of camp are from 8:30 AM until 5 PM - early drop off or late pick up can be arranged.
Located in Lower Manhattan to take advantage of the great parks and access to outdoor activities. We are trying to find a sight on the upper east side to open more spots - if anyone has the space, please email us. Thanks.
